The librarian
Mrs. Leslie Monchar, MLS, Head Librarian
Every day, visitors to the Leo and Irene Kaplowitz Memorial Library are greeted by the same scenes: a kindergarten class is sitting in the story area listening intently to a book being read to them by the librarian; students on every grade level doing research for class assignments from print resources or the internet; teachers of General and Judaic studies preparing for classes or leading small-group study sessions.
Our library/media center is the study and research hub of our Yeshiva, with a collection of some 26,000 volumes and periodicals, an extensive collection of audio-visual materials, an on-line data bases to support and enhance our Pre K- 12 curriculum. The library contains general fiction and non-fiction collections, Judaica and seforim, a Hebrew language collection, and a pedagogic collection for faculty and staff use. Fifteen computer workstations allow users to integrate print resources with database and internet research materials, and an automated circulation system makes it easy to check out materials as needed.
