The Better Together Names, Not Numbers program engages our 8th grade students in an experiential journey to become documentary filmmakers, preserving the testimony of Holocaust survivors for future generations.
The Better Together Names, Not Numbers program is a very personal experience and creates a unique bond between survivors and students. The program began this year in the fall with a professional journalist training students to become interviewers. Students welcomed the survivors to school and began building that personal connection with each other, as they interviewed and recorded their testimony. The students then work in groups to edit the interviews into compelling narratives, encapsulating what life was like before, during and after the war. The program culminates with a community-wide movie screening on Monday, May 22 that highlights not only how the Holocaust happened but also its impact on individuals.
We invite you to support this very meaningful program, and to dedicate your sponsorship in honor or in memory of a Holocaust survivor or someone who perished. Sponsorship levels range from $1,800 to $180. All listings will be included in the program at the screening of Better Together Names, Not Numbers: A Movie in the Making in May.
