Affordability

Bonim FAQ

Q: I just moved to a Greater MetroWest community in the past year. Am I still eligible to receive this incentive?

A: You are eligible for this program provided you were established as a resident of one of the participating communities after December 14, 2014.

Q: Is the amount of the incentive independent of the grade or school division?

A: Yes. If you’re eligible for the program, your child(ren) can be enrolled in any grade and receive the financial benefit outlined above.

Q: Are we still eligible if our second child is born after we move?

A: Yes. Bonim program benefits will be available to a second child born within three years of a qualifying family’s move date.

Q: Is there a deadline on when I have to move to the community and/or enroll in the school?

A: In order to receive the full annual benefit, you must enroll by the start of the school year.  Should you enroll at any other point in the school year, your benefit will be prorated accordingly.

Q: Do I have to join one of the participating synagogues to take advantage of the tuition discount?

A: Yes. In order to participate in the tuition benefits, you must become and remain an active member of a participating synagogue.

Q: I am moving from within the Greater MetroWest area to a participating synagogue/community. Would I still be eligible?

A: You must move from outside the Greater MetroWest area in order to participate in the Bonim program. Please refer to one of the school's additional affordability programs and financial assistance awards.

Q: What are the synagogues offering? How can I get more information about their part of the program?

A: Refer to the list of participating synagogues. Please contact each individual synagogue directly for more detailed information on their offerings.

Q:  Does JKHA/RKYHS offer anything else to new community members?

A: Yes! $2500 off tuition for each of your first two children for up to 5 years - a maximum total of $25,000.

Applying for the Yesodot Middle Income Tuition Max:

Enrollment in this program is easy. Here’s all you need to do:

Review exceptions to program eligibility below.

If you are eligible, click here to fill in the Middle Income Eligibility form

Submit the first two pages of your 2023 tax return before May 2, 2024 to jglasser@jkha.org

If you have a child/children enrolled in another Jewish elementary school (K-8), $5,000 will be applied to your Total Income (e.g., if your Total Income is $177,000 and you have a child in a Jewish elementary day school other than JKHA, your eligibility for program benefits will be evaluated as if your Total Income were $172,000).

The three exceptions to automatic eligibility* for the Yesodot Middle Tuition Max Program are as follows:

A family net worth over $1 million (net worth includes home equity and retirement accounts).

Filing of Schedules C and E as part of your federal tax return.

Both parents should be employed if children are in Kindergarten or older.

* Families who do not qualify for automatic enrollment because of these exceptions may still be eligible to participate. The Affordability Committee will review such Yesodot applications on a case-by-case basis. Additional supporting documentation may be requested at the discretion of the Committee.

*EC3 students are not eligible for the Middle Income Tution Max program

The development of this Tuition Max was based on a detailed analysis of many factors and assumptions regarding the income levels of our parent body, other demographics and anticipated participation rates in this program. JKHA reserves the right to modify the program benefits at any time upon written notice.

Any questions about this program should be directed to Allison Lyons, Director of Admissions and Community Relations at (862) 437-8050 or via email at alyons@jkha.org.
